Did this model sheet for my girlfriend so she could use it as reference in a project she’s working on. Only spent about 30 minutes on it, and for that amount of time, I think it came out really well. Apparently that whole concept of practicing to get better at art is true, because there’s no way I could have done this a year ago. Who would’ve thought.

Troll Concept
Just finished off the side view of the troll/old-man character and did the black-pencil pass on them. So far so good. |
Into the Trees Concept Sketches
This is a bunch of early sketching I’ve been doing for two of the other characters for the short I’m working on. The small sketches near the top are all different versions of shadow creature the boy from the previous post will be facing as one of his trials. I’m leaning toward the versions in the upper right (not counting the right-most) where he’s more of an amorphous blob that can take a variety of shapes. The other character is a mysterious old man who ends up transforming into a demon. Trying to decide how much of a transformation to put him through. So far I’m leaning toward only going half-way (the middle version), which I think will work well enough and in some ways may look creepier than the full on demon (which I’m not totally in love with anyway). |
Warrior Boy
This is the ever so creatively named “boy” character from the short I’m working on. He has changed drastically from when I last drew him, where he was a farm-boy in a tunic and a homemade bucket-helmet. The plot has moved in a slightly darker direction and now focuses on a boy who lives in a village near the edge of the forest going on his rite of passage into manhood. Hopefully I’ll have the script written and the rest of the characters designed in a few weeks. |
Rock Giant
Did another sketch of the giant for the short I’m writing/concepting. I think it’s getting there, but still too symmetrical and generic. Going to try and take a pass at spicing him up soon and hope it doesn’t come out terribly. |
